Getting in just under the deadline for intra-week symmetry, word arrives that MySpace is preparing to launch a service that will allow users to post dynamically aggregated, real-time news and blog entries on their personal pages. MySpace will also compile topical news pages, and commenting and story ranking will be available throughout. This essentially would put MySpace users in the editor's chairs of their own little publications, able to exercise their version of news judgment and commentary, not to mention providing one less reason for a visitor to stray elsewhere for news. Given the demographics of MySpace, it's likely that most of the user-selected news content won't woo away regular readers of the New York Times or anything, but room remains for people to do some smart aggregation in the niches.

Oh, the symmetry? This nicely balances out the launch this week of USATODAY.com's redesign, which incorporates the kind of reader interaction made popular by the social sites."

Windows Vista vs. Mac OS X

So the day has finally come where people are buying computers left right and center. I go to an electronics store these days and see old and young people buying new computers.

Some of the people I see are buying computers with Windows Vista already installed. Some of the people I see are buying computers with Mac OS X.... already installed. Some of the people I saw will have problems with their machines running Vista. Some of those people running Vista will destroy their iPods and can't find drivers. Some of the people I saw will not have any problems running OS X on their machines.

But it's not all about the problems for me. It's the lingo and the attitude of Microsoft'ers. Apple had added something they called a "dashboard" which contained "widgets". Microsoft has added something they call a "gadget".

Who do they think they are changing the lingo, that's been orbiting the earth since Apple released the OS update which included the "dashboard" feature?
It's a "widget" not a frickin' "gadget"!

But that isn't all, Microsoft (Mr Gates) actually has a "press conference" to tell the world that rival software developers have been copying Vista ("Windows Longhorn"). What a joke.
I wonder if Bill and his co workers actualy looked at iTunes for "a little inspiration" before making their new Windows Media Player, which is almost identical to iTunes apart from the ugly Vista skin they put in there.

I can just see Mr Gates sitting at his laptop on MSN talking to his fellow Microsoft'ers:

This is a masterpiece of video editing. I really don't want to know how long "rx2008" watched George W. Bush' speeches over and over again to find the right words. It really is quite freaky hearing Georgy Boy singing in his speech voice. It's actually wierd hearing him sing anything.

It's nice to see something other then endless youtube clones. If we will ever see this with western content, only time will tell.
